Minor

Students can declare a minor in gender, race, sexuality and social justice upon completing 27 credits of coursework. You can declare your minor through the Student Services Centre.

Program Requirements

30 credits are required for the GRSJ minor, subject to the following program requirements:

  • GRSJ 101, 102 (6 credits)
  • 6 credits from 200-level GRSJ courses or ANTH 213
  • GRSJ 224:
    Each section of GRSJ 224 is different and content will vary depending on instructor.
    Up to 6 credits of GRSJ 224 can be counted towards your degree.
    Distance Education sections have the same content across all sections but different assignments.

    • GRSJ 224A and GRSJ 224B are 3-credit courses
    • GRSJ 224C is a 6-credit, year-long course
    • GRSJ 224F is a 3-credit, Distance Education course
      Sections with different letter codes count as separate courses. For example, you can take GRSJ 224A + GRSJ 224B. But you cannot take 2 sections of GRSJ 224A.

  • 6 credits from GRSJ 325, 326, 327, 328
  • 12 credits from 300-level GRSJ courses or above, or from courses eligible for credit toward a major:
    • GRSJ 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 310, 311, 315, 316, 320
    • GRSJ 401, 410, 415, 425*, 450*
    • CSIS 300; CSIS 301, CSIS 450

*GRSJ 425 and GRSJ 450 can be repeated for credit.

GRSJ 450 is a Directed Studies course open to 3rd and 4th year GRSJ majors and minors and students working with GRSJ faculty. For information and to apply, please go here.
