An introductory study of global issues through the lens of Critical Human Rights Studies, Critical
Race Studies, Indigenous feminism, and intersectional feminist theory. The course focuses on:
contemporary forms of settler colonialism across the world and its impacts on the rights of
Indigenous women, children, and their communities; the rise of far right and white supremacist
movements in intersection with patriarchal ideology; crises in masculinity particularly eco-fascist
masculinity in the Global North; global poverty and inequality as gendered phenomena;
neoliberalism and its devastating effects on both the human and natural ecology of the Global
South.
