About
Gabrielle (Gabi) Pittinger is a master’s student at UBC’s Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice. Her research examines how socialization, medicalization, and nationalism influence public attitudes and institutional responses to disability. Combining academic theory with her lived experience, Gabi’s work is grounded in critical disability studies and disability justice.
Research
Gabi’s research centers on the intersections of disability, socialization, and power structures. She critically examines how ableism is embedded in institutions and culture, with a particular interest in disability activism and knowledge production.
