GRSJ faculty associates are selected based on their exemplary research and teaching interests that align iwth the Institute vision and mandate. Many associates hae been involved with GRSJ in the past as a former guest speakers or research supervisors of our graduate students.
The appointments are in place for as long as the faculty associate remains a full-time faculty at UBC. Faculty Associates support the Institute’s research, teaching, and community outreach mandates, which includes working with our graduate and undergraduate students on their research and other projects as committee members, university examiners, or co-supervisors; teaching special topic courses in the graduate and undergraduate levels; participation in our Noted Scholars Speakers and other lecture series, pedagogy workshops and thematic Research Networks.
In turn, the Institute provides online and in-person invitations to events in our growing intellectual community, offers free use of our small specialized library in GRSJ studies and reading room, provides promotion of their current research projects in our regular newsletter and social media channels, and in turn, collaborate with, promote and participate in their home unit’s events.
