Congratulations to Minelle Mahtani who has been nominated for a National Magazine Award for her essay “Looking for a Place to Happen” (Published in Geist Magazine).
Minelle’s essay was adapted from a lecture she originally presented as 2021-2023 Brenda and David McLean Chair, and cites several scholars of colour who work in our field including Ruth Wilson Gilmore, Rinaldo Walcott, and others.
“Looking for a Place to Happen” is one of 10 essays nominated in the essay category. The final winners in all categories will be announced at the 47th Annual National Magazine Awards on June 7, 2024 in Toronto.
