Major & Minor

Major in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice (GRSJ)

In order to be accepted into the GRSJ Majors program, students need to declare their major using the Student Service Centre, after completion of 27 credits of course work.

42 credits are required for the GRSJ Major, subject to the following program requirements:

First & Second Years

  • GRSJ 101, 102 (6 credits)
  • 6 credits from 200-level GRSJ courses or ANTH 213

Third & Fourth Years

  • GRSJ 325, 326, 327, 328 (12 credits)
  • GRSJ 422, 480 (6 credits)
  • 12 credits from 300-level GRSJ courses or above, or from courses eligible for credit toward a major:
    • GRSJ 300, 301, 303, 305, 306, 307, 310, 311, 320
    • GRSJ 401, 425*, 450*
    • CSIS 300; CSIS 450

*GRSJ 425 and GRSJ 450 can be repeated for credit.

Courses from other departments may be eligible and approved for credit toward a major. Please consult the department for information.


Minor in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice (GRSJ)

In order to be accepted into the GRSJ Minors program, students need to declare their minor using the Student Service Centre, after completion of 27 credits of course work.

30 credits are required for the GRSJ Minor, subject to the following program requirements:

First & Second Years

  • GRSJ 101, GRSJ 102 (6 credits)
  • 6 credits from 200-level GRSJ courses or ANTH 213

Third & Fourth Years

  • 6 credits from GRSJ 325, 326, 327, 328
  • 12 credits from 300-level GRSJ courses or above, or from courses eligible for credit toward a minor:
    • GRSJ 300, 301, 303, 305, 306, 307, 310, 311, 320
    • GRSJ 401, 422, 425*; 450*, 480
    • CSIS 300; CSIS 450
