Visiting International Research Scholar Sandra Bomfim de Queiroz



GRSJ is pleased to welcome Sandra Bomfim de Queiroz, VIRS Fellow, under the supervision of Dr. Denise Ferreira da Silva.

Sandra is a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Public Health at the University of São Paulo-USP. Sandra is a professor at the University of Health Sciences of Brazil and works with curricular Decoloniality, and Cultural Studies.

She is also a journalist and film maker with a Master’s degree in Education. Her research addresses female protagonism in the rituals of the Indigenous Health System, in the Alto Sertão Alagoano, in Brazil.

Sandra is generally interested on matters concerning equity, affirmative action, ethnic-racial and gender relations.  Her doctoral research is on the conceptions of health and well-being of Indigenous peoples and the Black population in Brazil, including Quilombolas and people of African origin and the LGBTQI+Infinito community.
