Jemima Pierre Calls for Foreign Troops to Leave Haiti

Jemima Pierre, the co-director of the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice, recently spoke with Marc Lamont Hill (host of UpFront from Al Jazeera) about modern crises in Haiti that were created by foreign intervention that dismantled Haitian democracy and sovereignty.

“The reality is that you cannot talk about Haiti as if everything that happens to Haiti is endemic. That’s a very racist narrative.”
GRSJ Co-director

In this in-depth conversation, Dr. Pierre provides historical context that informs how the Western media (and particularly the white Western Media) presents the political and social situation in Haiti today.

Dr. Pierre delivers a clear call to the United States, the United Nations, and other foreign actors that are interfering in Haiti today.

“Leave us alone. Stop arming us, withdraw foreign troops. Stop intervening.”
