CampOUT! Thanks You!

July 12, 2018

At the beginning of this week, 65 queer, trans, and Two-Spirit youth got on a boat and travelled together back to their home communities after an epic CampOUT! Campers have gained new friends, resources, self-acceptance, confidence, strategies for self-care, and tools for making friendships and being part of positive social change!

Camper evaluations and feedback from parents, guardians, and service providers working with camp youth already has been overwhelmingly positive. Campers felt lifted up, supported, celebrated and given time and space. Thank you for your contribution to creating a space for these incredible youth to have these experiences. We are truly grateful for your generosity that made this possible!

Check out the 2018 CampOUT! Program Guide for a description of all the activities we engaged with. In short, youth got to know each other through games, educational workshops, meal times, swimming at the waterfront, and hangouts in the library and magical arts & crafts space. Campers learned lots with YouthCO Sexual Health educators, practiced juggling skills, got tips on how to move our bodies and meet our fitness goals, learned origami, made our own zines and spent time writing change into the world! The campers were amazing, helpful, resourceful, courageous, friendly, silly, and adaptive to camp life.

On behalf of your friends at CampOUT! and the amazing youth from across the province who accessed this program this year,

Thank YOU!
