BA, English (with distinction), University of Calgary (2014)

Bailey grew up in Calgary, Alberta, and developed a passion for feminism and queer theory while completing her BA in English. She has spent a significant amount of time volunteering with local LGBTQ communities and at the Calgary Women’s Centre, a unique space based in peer-support. Bailey’s interests include YA literature and narratives of identity, both fictional and otherwise. Bailey is looking forward to working as a program assistant with CampOUT! to support queer and trans youth throughout B.C. and the Yukon.

My areas of interest include the construction and expression of identity within community spaces as they are influenced both by larger societal hierarchies and intimate group dynamics. I hope to examine the structure of these groups (whether they are social, religious, or political in nature) and uncover the possibility for further dialogue and scholarship in this particular area of study.
