Sessional Instructors — 2017 Summer

The Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice (GRSJ) seeks applicants for the following sessional appointments in 2017 Summer.

Applicants must hold a PhD or have advanced to full candidacy by the application deadline. PhD candidates at UBC must have the authorization of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to teach as sessional instructors. The settlement of any outstanding fees may be a precondition for such authorization.

Appointments are subject to budgetary constraints. Salary depends on rank and experience.

2017 Summer:

Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice in Literature (GRSJ 224C.921)

Mondays, Wednesdays: 5:00pm –8:00pm (May 15 – August 11, 2017)
Techniques of literary study, with emphasis on intersectionality and the ways in which gender is represented in literature and contributions of feminism and gender studies to literary studies.

Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice in Literature (GRSJ 224A.98A)

Online (May 15 – August 11, 2017)
Techniques of literary study, with emphasis on intersectionality and the ways in which gender is represented in literature and contributions of feminism and gender studies to literary studies.

Intersectional Approaches to Thinking Gender (GRSJ 300.941)

Mondays, Wednesdays: 5:00pm –8:00pm (May 15 – June 22, 2017)
Interdisciplinary exploration of the multiple intersections between gender and (neo)colonialism, racism, poverty, ableism, and heterosexism in a globalized world; historical and cross-cultural aspects, and the social construction of sex and gender, masculinity, femininity, and transgender.

Online (May 15 – August 11, 2017)
Interdisciplinary exploration of the multiple intersections between gender and (neo)colonialism, racism, poverty, ableism, and heterosexism in a globalized world; historical and cross-cultural aspects, and the social construction of sex and gender, masculinity, femininity, and transgender.
